Case management

Building Community to End Poverty.

Open Doors Case Management helps families and individuals orient themselves in times of financial crisis, build the skills they need in order to get back onto their feet, connect them to local resources, and get them involved with our other programs as needs arise. Case Management is also the gateway to our Circles program, which can help families and individuals increase their skills in a long-term, structured program.

How Case Management works

Case Management helps people improve in three main areas: employment, education, and income.

Employment

Case managers help connect people to meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities so they can increase how much they make. This sometimes takes the form of resume-building assistance, connecting people to local staffing services or the Department of Workforce Services, and helping them explore and apply for employment opportunities.

Education

To help participants build on their education and expand their opportunities for work, Open Doors can help pay for individuals to take classes, get their diplomas, and build additional life skills. Recent classes taken by some of our participants include English as a Second Language and Social Media Marketing.

Income

As participants boost their employment and education opportunities, income is also increased. Open Doors helps families and individuals to make the most of their income by connecting them to community resources like mainstream benefits, the health insurance marketplace, local financial institutions who can give financial advice, and more!

Meet Harmony

Impact Stories

In March, Harmony reached out to Open Doors in crisis after being laid off in January. As a single mother to a 2-year-old and caregiver to her two teenage siblings while her mom fought cancer in the hospital, she was under immense stress. Despite applying for countless jobs, she had no luck. When Harmony came in for case management, she was organized, optimistic, and prepared with a detailed budget, showing her dedication to her family’s stability. Open Doors helped with a rent payment and, recognizing her skills, encouraged her to apply for a job opening. She was hired in a new position where she has been thriving for over a year. Now, she is working toward purchasing a manufactured home to provide her family with permanent stability.
